The Christmas Song by Bob Wells & Mel Torme (cover)
This classic American Christmas song was published in 1945 and first recorded by Nat Cole in the summer of 1946. It's a great song to do on a jazz guitar, in this case my Eastman archtop; it's full of major 7ths and ninth chords. I have always loved Nat Cole's version of this great song. Happy Holidays to you all out there and be well for the coming year of 2021. Thanks for listening! :) - Glenn |
Loved it. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

That was great, thanks for posting it. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
As an aside, I thought it said Bob Wills and Mel Torme. That would make for an interesting collaboration. |

Thanks so much for watching and for taking time to comment! I'm glad you appreciated this cover! And Merry Christmas back to you and your family, as well. Let's hope 2021 is an improvement over 2020! Regarding the Bob Wills brain scramble, I had the same thought about what a crazy collaboration that would be with Mel Torme'! Stay well out there! :) - Glenn |
The Velvet Fog would be impressed. That song fits your voice well Glenn. Merry Christmas!

I appreciate your listening and your comments! Merry Christmas to you! :) I'm glad you like the sound of that Eastman archtop -- I do, too. This is the first time I have used this guitar in a recording even though I have owned it for a couple of years now. And for me, this is such a great song. - Glenn |
Love it! And Merry Christmas, my friend!!!
Great job. My daughter asked me to play this one for her last night. I did my simplified version. You need to teach me all those great chords you are playing! Enjoy the Holidays! |

Thank you for the kind words! And Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! I hope you all have a great Christmas and great new year! :) There is a fairly good lesson on YouTube from Frank Vignola that does a good job teaching you the basic chords in the key of C where I played this: My version has a few other chords in it so that it is closer to the way Nat Cole's guitar player, John Collins, played this. You should be able to see those additional chords as I play them in my video. I will post my version below.
