Bach Gavotte BWV815 - Video

Hi,

this is a raw video of my transcription of Bach's Allemande BWV815, the first movement of French Suite No. 4. Part of a project I've called "Gitarre-Übung" in which I'm transcribing some of Bach's keyboard works for guitar. I'll be recording and uploading videos of these transcriptions as a document of the work.

Hope this is of interest to the forum,

Best
A.

Really nice, and a good exercise as a project! Is that why you called the project "Gitarre-Übung"?
Thanks for sharing, welcome to the forum and looking forward to seeing more of your "workouts"!:)

Thanks for your feedback!!

I've called it Gitarre-Übung relating to Bach's Clavier-Übung.

Oops, I've just noticed that the video is the Gavotte instead of the Allemande.

The Allemande is this:

wow that Allemande is stunning, haven't heard it before. Listening to this I feel like a time capsule opens up to another, ancient world.

Is your guitar tuned down a bit? Everything seems to be lower pitch.

If you are posting these scores anywhere, don't forget tab for us heathens!

Thanks for the feedback! Appreciated!

Great that you liked it, most of my Bach transcriptions are from harpsichord works. There are not many references on guitar.

Good ears! the guitar is tuned to 424hz a little less than half-step down compared to the usual 440hz. I like how it feels and the overall resonance with Bach's music. Over the years I've found that each instrument has an optimum pitch, not all need to be at 440. It depends on the guitar, strings used as well as the repertoire. When playing solo it's not a problem.

Best,
A.

What nice performances! Very interesting to see how a professional musician practices.
