Do you guys name your guitars?

I just now decided to name this X30 "Carerra Fierra."

I do not. Well, that's not entirely true. I had a Santa Cruz 00 once that I called 'The Stoner' because it's serial number was 420! But I've never been much for naming inanimate objects.

Yup.

Emerald X7 custom painted - Ceol mo chroi (music of my heart in Gaelic)
Cordoba 55FCE Espana - Serenidad (serenity in Spanish)
Taylor K24ce koa - Hali’a (fond recollection in Hawaiian)
Moore Bettah Kauai themed custom ukulele - Hui Nani (beautiful union in Hawaiian)
Moore Bettah slothead custom ukulele - Kula Leo (golden voice in Hawaiian)
KoAloha ukulele (given in thanks for writing book about them) - Lokomaika’i (act of generosity)

And I am already thinking of potential names for the custom Taylor koa arriving on Friday, and the red nylon X7 Emerald that is on order.

I know guitars don’t come when you call them, but my cat doesn’t either and he has a name. I always named my cars too. ;)

Nope. Back in the day, a friend told me I should name my 335 Lucile.

"Yeah, that name is kinda taken." ;)

I call mine: the X7, the X10, the X20, the 814, etc, etc. Easier to keep 'em straight.

My cat's name is Rufus, and he comes when I call him. He's a good boy. :)

Normally no...

Somehow my Rainsong AGF Shorty got named "Sharkie" though.

That song is a hit. My 19 month old daughter is a huge fan. When ever it plays (on Pandora) she dances and jumps around like she’s on dancing with the stars.

My kids love that song lol. I'm even more pathetic cause I know how to play it on the guitar.

I do not name my guitars either. Though someone on here once suggested that I should name my X30 "Tiger".

Nymuso 03-20-2019 11:32 PM

I did, but they never answered when I called, so . . . . .

byudzai 03-21-2019 12:19 AM

This one got dubbed the "Bat Guitar."

I've since blackened the nut and saddle. Looked so stupid (to me) white.

YOU can be replaced by a machine....

(I don't have kids myself, but I drive bus for pre-schoolers. Hear it AT LEAST twice a day. Hate it.)

MayaTambien 03-21-2019 06:13 AM

Back on topic, not usually.

I've been considering whether or not to name my new-to-me RainSong Parlor. "Sharkie" is oddly attractive, or perhaps "Bruce".

I'm also considering (okay, fantasizing about--it's not in the budget any time soon...), a custom Emerald order. It would have the body size and scale length from an X7, with the neck profile and level 3 electronics from an X10.

So kind of an X8.5.

I already know it would be named "Fellini"....

Yes. I do. I name everything. Sometimes I even find the right name. Names can be very powerful.
