Meet BA Ferguson Guitars: Parts 1-4 Merged

Hi friends,

A few months ago I received my dream guitar. Boot Arreola is a luthier out of Hartsville, South Carolina. You can find his website here:

www.bafergusonguitars.com

Everything you see, with the exception of the hardware is reclaimed and re-purposed wood.

Instead of writing about it further I will tell the story with pictures...enjoy!

Hi Steve...there are still lots of pics, so stay tuned to Part 3!

The top is Adirondack Spruce from a piano over 100 years old

The back and sides are Cherry, culled, from Florence, South Carlolina

The neck is Sycamore, also from a piano

All bindings and other details are from reclaimed and re-purposed wood...

Until a few months ago, our son lived in Hartsville, and while visiting him in the shop a couple of years ago, I got to meet Boot. Nice guy! I wanted to talk about his guitars, but he seemed more interested in the AGF. Naturally, I tried to recruit him here as a member and potential future Sponsor.

On the day of my visit, we had very little time together. He had no acoustics in the shop that day to sample, and only one electric. (Seems he already had a strong following at that time in the electric world.) But I did notice the old pianos being re-purposed, and I liked what he had to say about building acoustics. I thought to myself at the time, "I'll be hearing more from this guy!" Today is the first time I've noticed him being mentioned here, but something tells me it will not be the last!

(In order to keep from crowding other threads off our first page here, I have merged the four threads on this one guitar into one.)

The guitar really looks nice, but it's hard to tell with the instagram filter on every pic. Maybe you could resist the instagram urge and post a pic without a filter?

These are the pics I received that were posted on intagram.

Sure, I can post some of the pics I have with the guitar now! Thanks for looking!
