Need different Stat pups

I know its a loaded topic, its for a stat style guitar that right now has Squire Alnico V pups that are too bright. Too bad Rose pickups went under, Seymour Duncan is too expensive, heard Bootstraps are cool.

I thought Squier pickups were normally lower quality ceramic magnet units. Alnico V magnet p/u’s are generally very good sounding units. What Squier guitar did they come out of? I’m curious now.

Bought a loaded pick guard off of ebay, came out of a Squire Deluxe Strat for $65.00, heard Alnico 11 aren't as bright

Here she is, 80 hours of work, has a super WD neck and a Minnesota Alder body. Weighs 6 & 1/2 lps

That’s a good looking guitar! Nice job.

These might be to your liking:

Here is a good deal on a used set. The Blackface pickups have been renamed the Sixty - Four.

What a beautiful Strat!

I've never played GFS pickups before but I've read good things about them (at least their humbuckers) and they're less expensive than Seymour Duncan. Another option are used Duncans.

I put a DiMarzio in the middle position of my Yamaha Pacifica 012 with good results. Decent price.

I have wanted a blonde natural Strat for 45 years so I built one. It was more work than I ever imagined, sanded for months, 2 hours a day and yes it is beautiful. The pickups are OK but I want more! Gonna try the Bootstraps?

With the caveat of keeping the cost down I'd opt for one of the sets from Guitar Fetish. I've used a few of their offerings, a few single coils, several humbuckers, several P-90s and 3 of their Musicman-style bass pickups.

I think GF offers well made and good sounding pickups that can't be beat at their price point.

I personally don't find that much of an improvement in SDs or those from other boutique makers. I used pickups from SD, Lollar, and a few smaller custom shops when making custom lap steels and although I liked them fine, I would not have spent the extra money.

If you need some quiet stacked pickups, I like the Wilde pickups from Becky and Bill (RIP) Lawrence.
They don't cost as much as the boutique stuff.

….with the amount of work that you put into that beautiful strat it makes sense to put put a really nice set of pickups in it….yes there are pickups that are less expensive and still sound good but going with a high end set will take it to another level…

…there are many fantastic sets that can be purchased used over on The Gear Page website that will save you some dough….I recommend hanging out there and researching the offerings to find something that appeals to you….it may take a few sets to find the set that really nails what you want but that’s the fun part to me…

…in my experience if you’re looking for a “hot” set it’s pretty easy to find something that won’t break the bank…..if you’re wanting to find a really sweet vintage spec set be prepared to spend a bit more….

I gave my MIM Sunburst to a friend. She took out the Duncans and put in the Bootstrap '54 set. We both agree it sounds like a Strat should.
