How Many Originals Do You Have.??

I just counted the number of Originals I have. All of them are instrumentals that play up to about 4 minutes. I've played for 15+ years.

I have 16 named originals.

How many do you have....

I've been writing for 40 years, so I have well over 100 total.

There are probably 15 on my current setlist.

Dozens, a number of which are on my CDs or youtube. The most fun thing is composing something.

I have countless noodles....does that count?

Seriously though, I probably have 15 or so musical ideas floating around that I could sit down and play with for 3 to 8 minutes each. Mostly instrumentals. I do tend to play them differently each time, which is why I call them ideas.

Noodles though, my goodness I can't count them all...

I'm more of a improvisation player. Put me in a group of players in a jam situation and I'm good to go!

50+.....4 home brewed CD's and a number of tunes that exceed those on the CD that haven't been posted yet.
all instrumentals........I keep thinking I"m tapped out....but then..........
multiple tunings on all these pieces.

That I would claim? About 5 or 6.

Maybe 10 or so that I'm willing to share. But, I've only been writing for a couple of years. I might get 4 or 5 done a year. I just write for the fun of it and to share with friends and family.

Over 300, been writing for nearly 60 years. A lot of different genes (only a few rock and roll and only a few instrumentals). When used to gig solo and do open mics I did only my own stuff.

I've got about 10 originals that I'm willing to play for the public. About 1/2 of them still sounded good a year later. That, for me, is the real test. When I get a few more, I plan to do a demo CD with a local recording studio/producer. We'll sell 10s of copies. LOL

I've got about 200 give or take, but there's about 80 that I perform regularly. I'm starting to plan my 3rd CD for this summer. Actually it's my 4th if you count the one I did back in 1991.

I knew there would be some big numbers. Impressive.

So impressive!

I have hundreds, probably. Two home-made CDs. If I'm honest w/myself, I have about 20-30 I wouldn't mind busking and/or playing live, at an open mic night. I have a friend w/a recording studio in his basement. Want to get in there and record my "Opus"! ;)

evenkeel 04-18-2018 12:58 PM

I published two CD's and one EP. One CD is in the works. Probably about 45 songs. Of that bunch about a dozen get played out in public.

Close to 100, all written in the last three years. I try to write one each week for a Monday night open mic I attend that requires original songs.

A few weeks ago, I decided to play an entire show of only originals. Two and a half hours. Still had lots of songs left that I didn't use.

I keep a file on my phone of song ideas that come to me during the course of my day. That list is over 300 entries long at this point.

I also keep my iPad handy when I am noodling, just in case I come up with something (a hook, an interesting chord progression, etc) that I like. I record a snippet of it on the camera video feature on the iPad in selfie mode so I can see what my fretting hand is doing.

If I don't do that, I can never remember the idea the next day...
