Kincherff High Noon-SOLD

SOLD! to a very lucky buyer... Shipped. Here's a early Kincherff High Noon, this is one of the earliest High Noon guitars he built. Rare find. Labeled RK on the head stock. Luthier built, Signed by Jamie Kinscherff. Punchy loud guitar with excellent tone, playability, volume and neck. It has some of the best punchy treble response of any acoustic I have ever owned. Well played in but not abused. New Camel bone Nut and bone saddle gives it real punch and clarity and set up at BR fret shop in Honolulu.

Really a balanced guitar. Louder than most Dreads!

LR baggs I beam included unattached in the case.
6K+ new build.

Spruce, Rosewood, 1-3/4" Nut, 57mm (2-1/4") saddle spacing, 4" to 4-1/2" bout depth.

I have no doubt that this guitar is amazing. The price of a new one would actually be $7,000, as Jamie's base price is $6,700, plus the pickup.

At one time, I owned 6 Kinscherff guitars, including three that I commissioned. Financial issues necessitated selling all but the one in my signature line.

Jamie's guitars are played by professional musicians Timothy B. Schmit of The Eagles, Ian Matthews of Fairport Convention, and the now deceased Eric Taylor along with hundreds of other owners. Jamie was one of the earliest luthiers/craftsmen at the very early stages of the then fledgling company called Taylor Guitars, before striking out on his own with his own handmade guitars.

This guitar is approximately 26 years old, and I can only imagine how great it sounds. I have no affiliation with the seller, just a fan of Jamie's guitars.

Aloha Jim, you are correct. This is a great guitar. I think I lost my bearings over the holidays. See my note on the Bourgeois. My brother lives in Grapevine and I do own a property in Harker Heights TX so I have been in your neighborhood. Best.... Mahalo..

What type of woods are use on this guitar? Not seeing that in the description.

Karlguitar can confirm, but judging from the photos I would think its Sitka spruce over East Indian rosewood.

I texted Jamie about this piece, and he said this is one of the earliest High Noon guitars he built. Hand engraved marker on the 12th fret that says "High Noon".

For a little back history, Jamie gave the guitar this name because he liked the music and name of this rockabilly band out of Austin. Jamie lived in Austin and his guitar workshop was there as well until moving to the beautiful small town of Wimberley between Austin and San Antonio.

Here's some info on the band:

Any idea what the "RK" stands for on the headstock? I assume the original owner's initials? A pic of this would be good.

Well, I do happen to know the lineage of the RK guitars, as well as Kinscherff. I hope Karlguitar doesn't mind me chiming in some more here.
Hopefully he can post a pic of the peghead on his actual guitar.

Back in the early days, Jamie Kinscherff had a partner named Ross Jennings. Jamie built acoustics, and Ross primarily made electric guitars. So, "R" for Ross, and "K" for Kinscherff. When they split up, Jamie obviously went under his own name. For quite some time after Jamie started building his own guitars as "Kinscherff Guitars", he did not put his name on the headstock. His trademark symbols were a thin cloud passing in front of the moon, and a replication of the shape of the cloud as the 12th fret marker. In later and most recent years, Jamie started putting the name "Kinscherff" on the peghead.

I know for sure that Eric Taylor's guitar was an RK model. I was fortunate enough to get to play it myself when I attended a house concert that Eric did here in DFW. I took my Adirondack/Koa High Noon to that show so he could see it and play it. Here are some pics of the pegheads that Jamie has used, including a shot of Eric Taylor with his "RK" guitar. That is the same guitar he had at the house concert, and was the only guitar he performed with and recorded with as far as I know. Unfortunately Eric passed away on March 9th, 2020.
