Looking for a couple carbon fiber guitar to take & leave in South Africa
Greetings, I'm looking to take a couple carbon fiber guitars to South Africa for a local ministry that works with orphans in some of the poorest places on the planet. Music is a powerful part of their culture and these guitars will be put to good use.
Any recommendations on the best bang for the buck? Obviously, I'd like to spend as little as possible, but also want some decent instruments. Thanks! David |

Have you tried hitting up the makers? It would be cool if you could extract one guitar from each from Rainsong, Emerald, Journey, and CA. Some form of crowd funding might also be the way to go. Just some thoughts. |
I almost want to say KLOS.
These have a wooden neck though, and nobody here really has much experience with them. |
There are plenty of inexpensive but decent all-laminated wood guitars on the market. CF would obviously be superior for environmental resistance, but you could get five laminated guitars with accessories and lots of extra strings for the price of even one used CF.
Evan probably has the best idea - try to get donated guitars from the various manufacturers. Even factory "seconds" would be acceptable for your intended use. |
You might even think about used Ovation Celebrity. Check your local craigslist. We have a local organization that organizes donated musical instruments for third world countries and local kids in need. Good luck!

This is kinda like Evan's idea. It’s wonderful!
