Cut away and neck width
Looking around for models I could like I found a thing that perplexes me:
it seems that all "good" guitars have a neck width at nut of at least 1" 11/16, a bit wider than the 1" 3/4 that seems to be the a standard... Moreover, I was interested in some Larrivee and Santa Cruz cutaway models, Florentine or Venetian... and those are all 1" 11/16. In your knowledge, there are equilibrated sounding cutaway models with smaller neck ? Thanks everybody |
Cut away and neck width
If you convert the fractions to decimal you'll see the 1 11/16 is actually narrower, 1.6875 as opposed to 1 3/4 which is 1.75 (or this way: 1 3/4 is the same as 1 12/16).
So the neck width is narrower making it great for strumming and lead work and is why I prefer the Martin 00028 to the OM28, for example. Hope this helps. |

Cut away and neck width
I thought maybe equated is probably what delfino26 meant, but then reread the original post.
Equilibrium - state of balance. Equilibrated - brought to state of balance |

I was meaning the tones are all "equal" in strength and in perception. i.e. SJ-200 has some typical fat bass component For width: yes, the numbers are as you said. Some of those actually say 1" 13/16 so, my mistake in copying the figures, but the dimension I checked was more than my Strat. Actually, the Strat I have is 1" 11/16 or similar: :) So all those cutaway models are good as dimensions and shape... And for the sounds ? |
