If You Could Jam With ANY Musician (Living or Dead) Who Would It Be?

If you were able to play guitar with any musician either living or dead who would it be? What songs would you play?

For me, I'd easily choose Paul McCartney. He is my favorite musician, and in my opinion the best musician in modern history. I would love to play Blackbird with him...

Frank Zappa - any songs off of the Apostrophe album (Cosmic Debris) but any jam would do (instrumental)

A lot of people would define "jam" differently. I'd want to play bass, that's more me. And there are lots of good choices, but the first one that came to mind was Steve Cropper. As for what we'd play, I'd let him take off and I'd try to keep up.

At this moment...

I'd love to sit with, talk with, drink with, sing with, and play guitar with John Prine. Just to have him around a little longer.

Paul McCartney. Would love to do a tune with some great guitar parts like in "Mother Nature's Son." I would equally like to do some vocal harmonization's with him.

I agree, Jam may mean different things to different people.

To me, it means joining along in a long drawn out musical session.

I'd say Prince for the same reason. I'll play rhythm and watch him go.

Hard to pick just one. I also love the idea of playing with Mother Maybelle.

There aren't too many ... but if I had to pick just one it would be John Lennon, and any song would do my job.

When I was 15, my dad was looking for a moving van to rent and came across a Craigslist ad of someone renting out their van.

My dad asked the guy what he used to do in the past, and the guy (his name is Tom) said he used to play guitar with John Lennon. My dad was shocked and thought the guy was nuts, but he showed us the YouTube videos of him playing guitar with Lennon in the 70s in his band. Anyway I was able to play guitar with Tom and as a 15 year old, I thought it was so cool to be playing guitar with this guy who was in John Lennon's band in the 70s. We did a blues jam, it was really fun and I'll always remember it.

Mark Knopfler would be my choice along with David Gilmor, and just absorb whatever I could from them.
