A Farewell to a King.

It isn't too often that a drummer is mentioned within the pages of this forum. However he was the drummer and the main lyricist for one of the world's premier guitar-based Rock Bands.

Apparently when he turned up for the audition the other band members weren't too impressed. He just didn't look or act the part. However they gave him a shot...and the rest is history.

I first heard this song when I was about 15 years old and I totally got it. I've been working on being a 'Tom Sawyer' since then.

In-arguably the greatest rock lyricist of all time and in-arguably the greatest drummer of all time.

In terms of lyrical quality, their final album Clockwork Angels (2012) shows just a slight hint of complacency, but in the arc of discography of the band, Snakes & Arrows (2007) is at their peak, a culmination of a lifetime of work, and includes a couple of instrumental pieces too. Imo
