Black Friday/Cyber Monday Acquisitions
So what did you fine folks pick up this weekend?
I don't need much so I didn't pick up much, but I did get a couple Toontrack midi packs. Oeksound Soothe, and Chris Hein Bass. The Toontrack midi packs were on sale for about $8 each. I didn't necessarily need them but when any of them go on sale for cheap, I usually grab them if for no other reason than to expand my choices. Oeksound Soothe is an interesting plugin. The website describes it as a dynamic equalizer but that doesn't really define this thing. This is another plugin that has an AI component. It can identify problematic frequencies within a user defined range and allow them to be pulled down. If you've ever had to spend time identifying and notching problematic frequencies on a track, this plugin is designed to save you a lot of time. I've heard people rave about it for more than a year and watching several videos of it in use convinced me it's a good tool to have in the box. I was just waiting for it to go on sale. I've been using Spectrasonics Trillian for my bass tracks for many years. It's a great sounding vst but it's not very user friendly when it comes to inputting articulations. I own some other Chris Hein instruments and they're all excellent but I didn't even know he had a bass vst on the market until this weekend when I got an email from the company. I listened to some samples and they sounded great, so today I bought it. I thought it was going to be another option besides Trillian but after playing with it a bit today I'm pretty sure it's going to be my main bass option. |
Haven’t done it but really thinking about the Lauten Atlantis mic at $300 off.

Front End Audio had a 15% off sale so I picked up an AEA R84 ribbon mic, an AEA RPQ500 500-Series Microphone Preamp, a Fredenstein Bento 6S 500-Series Rack and a dbx 560A 500-Series Compressor
I've always wanted another ribbon mic and I've been thinking about venturing into the 500 series for a while so I killed two birds with one stone. Now I can take my time and geek out deciding what to fill the 4 remaining 500 series slots with:D |
Yes more or less for playing and recording , as per my post in the Electric section I acquired a new REVV D20 amp and Port City speaker cab both on a 15% BF sale price.
I will be mic'ing the Port City cab with amp played in just simple tube mode. But I will also experiment utilizing the on board Two Notes Cab simulations into the power section of the amp 6V6 . But I will also be experimenting with by passing the output section of amp and going DI to the DAW and experimenting with the just the Two Notes Cab sims, Mic sims & placement, as well as tube sims. |
I bought two AT2035s at £133 each, but there's £20 cash back on them right now with Andertons which is a great deal. Big upgrade from my Zoom H2N.
I bought a new HP laptop that was £300 off mainly for sound production but also theoretically for university work (if I can ever be bothered lol :D ). Half a terabyte SSD, an i7 1065G, it's a very powerful little machine. I bought Acoustica Mixcraft Recording Studio which was $75 rather than the usual $100. Expensive week! |
Samson G-Track Pro $85 Brand New at GC Needed it for my Home Studio
|
FabFilter Pro-Q 3 for $128 -that's 25% off. Woot woot. :)

Re-upped my Pro Tools support for another year, even though I don't use it as much these days. I was able to get a BF discount on the usual rate.
Bought two EastWest solo bowed VST instrument packages (Cello and Violin) for more control over articulations than I have currently. The two totaled up to a bit less than one package would cost normally. That pretty much tapped me out. |

Lots of little musical items. Blue Yeti mic, capo, tuners, mic stand, Hercules three guitar stand (all items to be split between my daughter and me). Kinda geeking out over my wireless hygrometer (pushes data to my iPhone). Ironically, my biggest ticket item was my Strings & Beyond order (ordered up my entire 2020 string supply today at 20% off).
