Recommend mic stands?
 

I have On Stage mic stands and they drift down on the mic side, I guess its the weight - is that normal? Anyone recommend a brand that doesn't?

Have you tried adjusting the counterweight?

No. I didn't know they had them - thanks. Found them online :)

Actually, I was just kinda thinking about putting, like, a small kitten on the end of your stand.

Actually I tried to use a couple of vintage plumb-bobs I had gotten from ebay as they looked cool before posting the question,

The question was honest. The kittens were just cats.

Notice that with this arrangement of the boom arm and clutch, the weight of the mic tends to loosen the clutch.

If you can pull the boom out of the clutch and insert it going the opposite direction the weight of the mic will tighten the clutch and that might eliminate the sagging issue.

Thanks Fran - I will check it out. I just bought an extra mic stand so I can do that, duplicate the set up of the original mic and then simply transfer the mic. I have the floor position noted with x's and jotted down measurements. And its free:)

Anybody use the On Stage SB9600? This looks like a really nice studio stand for less than $100. Any on line negative comments were about the weight, but that would be a good thing in a studio stand in my opinion.

I have PA speaker stands by On Stage and I really like them, especially since it cost me $60 for a pair with the heavy duty bag to cart them around in.

No but you can get weights for their stands and I think its comes to less - and then you can remove it if you want.
