SOLD: 2018 Martin 000-28 “Reimagined”

This was my first Martin and has some sentimental value, but it's time to move on. It's especially hard to part with because the sound is awesome. But, I need to sell to make room spatially and financially (I've got two guitars on order).

To my ears, this 000-28 has that nice low end Martin sound in spades, but is still quite articulate in the mids and highs. It plays like a dream having been set up by a certified Martin tech. I replaced the original plastic bridge pins with bone pins and installed a strap button.

I'm listing it in Very Good condition. There are what I would consider normal "swirls" on the back, but it does have a ding on the front that I wasn't able to capture in a photo. It has clearly been played, but no major injuries. One thing to note: the antique white binding on the lower back side has discolored somewhat (see photo). To me it looks like it was stained by my blue jeans. Obviously it doesn't affect the tone.

The original molded hardside case is included.

This is priced to sell. SOLD I will pay the shipping and PayPal fees for AGF members.

Pardon the dumb noob question, but what exactly does “Reimagined” in the title mean?

botofogo 09-12-2019 05:51 PM

“Reimagined” is Martin’s term.

"Reimagined" is the lastest in vast series of buzzwords made up or re-activated by marketers, salespeople, and motivators worldwide. These buzzwords come and go; they are essentially meaningless.

Here's Chris Martin's take on this flavor of the month:

"Reimagined": "I challenged my coworkers to help me with the significant task of modernizing guitars whose origin go back to the 1930s (and earlier).”, said Chris Martin. “As you might imagine, the discussions were quite animated. Fortunately, we all knew we were working toward a common goal; how can we modernize traditional Martin Guitar models."

So, as if Martin had not been countinuously working to improve their guitars, they want you to now beleive they have just started doing so, in order to motivate you to buy one. Typical marketing, but the reall problem here is that everyone, from soup makers to nuts vendors, now has something they have "Reimagined" somewhere in their sales and marketing culture. I think it will probably be awarded Time Magazine's "Overused Word of the Year", if not the decade.

I prefer Martin guitars for many reasons, and the reimagined ones are probably just as good as all the others.

Trades or no?

botofogo 09-13-2019 04:11 PM

I’m selling to get money for two guitars I’ve already ordered, so a trade wouldn’t really help me out.

Mbroady 09-13-2019 05:33 PM

If this had a 1 11/16 nut it would already be on its way to me. Good luck with the sale

botofogo 09-14-2019 05:43 PM

Saturday Night bump.

botofogo 09-16-2019 02:12 PM

Bump for a price reduction.
