Congrats on receiving your new Franklin! I think mine is 12 years old now. 12 or 13.

I chose no pick guard also, and have no regrets on that account - in fact I have always seen that decision as an opportunity to let more tone escape the body of the guitar.

I adore writing music while playing the franklin as the tones that emerge are inspirational. I play with 12 - 54 Martin phosphor bronze, which capture a modest dry edge from the base strings along side etherial trebles.

For myself, it's a keeper, a guitar I'll pass on to someone when my time comes. And one of the few things I leave behind that I'll wish I could take with me.
