Ordered a 2018 Martin J-40 today!

I have an OM-28 and 000-18 and have been itching for a dread/jumbo of some type when I stumbled across a review of the J-40, I have always thought about getting a M-36 and now have decided to go all in on the J. Now the wait begins!

I'm trying to re-imagine it now - can't wait to see the pics.
Should be superb.

The 'hidden' gem in the Martin line-up.
Poorly named as a jumbo it is a 0000/M body with dreadnought 4 7/8" depth.

I want a full report when you get it! I almost pulled the trigger on one a while back, but prefer a 1 3/4 nut.

Congratulations Matt. I played one at NAMM and it was superb.

I look forward to your NGD post. I'm a little intrigued by these myself.

Congratulations in advance, if I ever buy a second Martin that would be the one I'd get.

Congrats! My j40 is a few years old or so ... and it’s still a favorite. Thanks for listing the new specs, I see they changed the tuners too. The tone and balance is outstanding imho. Enjoy!

I had one years ago. It was loud as heck, great tone too. Congrads!

J 40 M

I have my dads 80s J40M.
It is an incredible guitar.
It is a cannon.
Great low end, but because of the slimmer waist than a dread it is not as boomy.
Just a low articulate rumble.
The best I can describe it is the Martin sound with more articulation.
I'm surprised more people don't play these guitars.
