String height adjustment on new Emerald X20 Artisan Woody
Wondering how to lower the string height on my new Emerald X20 Artisan. The first seven frets are great but it gets a little too high for me going up the neck from there. Should I adjust the truss rod or take some off of the other end?

Check your neck relief first. If there's too much bend in the neck, you need to adjust the neck first.
Press the E strings down at first fret and way up the fretboard. See if there's any gap between string and fretwire in the middle. The thickness of a high E string is about right. If you have much more, you need to adjust the neck. |
Get a new Tusq saddle, shave the bottom down, adjust the truss rod for some final relief adjustment, and you are all ready to rock. ;)

I did both on mine, straighten the neck a bit more and shaved the bottom saddle

Thanks for the help on this.
