Looking for plans

Hi all,

I'm looking for plans to build a 1930's Dreadnought style guitar,
I have the LMI and SM plans but they are both rear shifted and I'm looking for forward shifted bracing. I did read the SM Banjo killer article, it's just a little shy on numbers.

If anyone knows where I could get plans with the forward bracing it would be greatly appreciated.

A thought

How about penciling-in the bracing and bridgeplate changes and build to that?

The S-M Herringbone plans are already in-hand and a blueprint shop can make as many copies as OP wants to try out changes.

You might have better luck over at the umgf. John Hall or John Arnold might have something for you too.

Otherwise as mentioned all you are going to do is push the X forward and adjust the angle so that your X-Brace angle goes under the bridge wings.

I would assume SM means Stewmac.

I know stuff like that is hard to find though. I was looking for 1930's OM plans last year and found only one plan online which was offered for free. Of course it was only a small print out on standard paper but still had all the dimensions. I'll try and figure out who that was as he might have a Dred too.

I can email a PDF of the plan I drew from a 1937 D-28. This was drawn for my own use, so the detail is limited to critical dimensions and brace locations.

Mr. Arnold, thank you for your offer, I sent you a PM with my email. A 1937 D-28 is exactly what I want to work from.

Hey Scott, how did it work out? I'm planning my second acoustic build and am looking to build something similar to yours. If that PDF plan worked well, maybe I'll see if I can use it too. Thanks!!!
