CA Cargo questions
 

Hi

I have a 000-15s, on which I like to play, simple country blues songs, I like it but I live in Vegas, so I hate daily humidification, adjustments etc.
Therefore I am looking for a graphite guitar.
I have heard a lot about Cargo, but I never saw it with my own two eyes.
I am a little confused, because when I compare McNichol video on Cargo and Hashi videos on YouTube, they seem to be two different guitars, actually Hashi seems to be playing an Xi guitar.
In McNichols video, the cargo is tiny.
How does it compare to the Martin 000 body, is it a full scale guitar, is it good for fingerpicking?
Any thoughts?

The Cargo is more similar in size to a "parlor guitar".

It has a 24.9" scale, rather than the more typical 25.4" scale on a full-size guitar.

Then is it more difficult to play?

It's not a full scale guitar. It's bigger than my little Martin and still fits the bill as a travel guitar. It sounds OK fingerpicked, but really comes alive with a flat pick. I haven't picked up the Little Martin since I got my Cargo. They just don't compare. It's a really fun guitar but would never replace any of my full scale guitars. Mine stays in my car and it's true, it's usually in tune no matter what the temperature is or the humidity. It's pretty much no maintence.

i got one of these a few weeks ago to use as my travel, leave it out and not worry guitar. it is perfect for that. the sound is good, but it is never going to replace my other guitars.

The cargo is just about the best travel guitar out there. It sounds better, looks cooler, and it's virtually indestructable. I take it with me on planes all the time. Fits nicely in the overhead compartment - even on small "Commuter" planes. I never worry about dings or scratches. Humidity? Please. Temperature? Pfffft! I leave it in the trunk of my car all the time.

As others have noted, it is a smaller scale guitar. Very good for fingerpicking (my style of play), and as also has been noted previously, the sustain is amazing. All in all a great little, no maintenance, fairly indestructible, versatile great sounding guitar...

I find the Cargo very easy to play.

The short scale makes certain fingerings easier to master, and the 1-3/4" nut width gives me plenty of room for fingerstyle.

So why are you selling it?

Yep, the Cargo is far better than the Little Martin or Baby Taylor. Of course, they are about twice the price, too.

I like the Cargo because I'm not worried about it. I can take it with me in the car if I want to, and I leave it next to my PC all the time, so I can just pick it up and play it, while sitting at the PC. I'd never do that with a nice wooden guitar.

I played one recently at a get together and was blown away. I loved the guitar. The sustain is almost organ like, incredible. Very nice bass, easy to play. It is said that people that favor the Martin sound (that would be me) are also taken with the Cargo. That said, it doesn't sound exactly like a wooden guitar, though.
