Gordon Lightfoot Last Night!

I had a wonderful evening last night with my mother-in-law and Gordon Lightfoot. We saw him in Rockford, IL and the show was terrific! Such a blessing to see him and spend time with my mama #2...both she and Gordon are 80 years old.

Sure, Gordon does not sound like he once did...his voice is not as clear and he seems to tire a bit but, he is still incredible. Truly an icon.

But, one of the major highlights of last evening was the father and his children who sat next to me. Dad is likely my age...somewhere in his early to mid-fifties and his son and daughter are probably 14 to 16 years old.

Needless to say, the son and daughter knew the words to every single song...they sang out loud, clapped, kept time and thoroughly enjoyed the show. So, to those kid's dad....you did well, Dad! Gordon's music will live on for another generation!

That’s really great to hear. Truly one of the best singer songwriters of our time.

Was just out in your neck of the woods on a family visit road trip and saw the publicity for this concert. Truly wished our schedule would have worked to be there. Wasn't able to fit in Sir Paul in either Madison or Green Bay though I was able to get a picture of the Jumbotron from outside Lambeau Field of Sir Paul promo the morning of the concert.

Sounds like a wonderful evening! Gordon Lightfoot is such a treasure! I feel like a grew up with his music over so many decades!

A local movie house showed "If You Could Read My Mind - The Gordon Lightfoot Story" and Maggie and I went to see it. It's a great movie and if you get a chance, you should check it out.
Gord appears at the Mariposa Folk Festival many years, unannounced. He did last summer and the crowd loved him.
I first saw Gord as 1/2 of the duo The Two Tones at the 1962 Mariposa Folk Festival. He was playing a tenor guitar and his partner, Terry Whelan played a baritone ukulele. He has since tripled the number of strings on his guitar.
