NGD PRS Hollowbody II

I decided to take a foray into my annual "Learn to Play Electric Guitar" phase. Got a great deal from Sweetwater on this PRS Hollowbody II and must say that this is a really nice electric. Fit, finish, tone and playability are excellent. It seems that there's a really large price gap between the SE line and the American-made PRS guitars. It''s not like the gap between Fender's American and Mexican-made guitars - it seems that the PRS gap can easily be several thousand dollars. WOW! Until I finally win the lottery, this PACRIM PRS is going to do the trick...

Congratulations on the new Hollowbody PRS!

The build quality of the SE range is really good; way better than a lot of other import lines. If I remember correctly the hollowbody is made in China; a lot of the SE range is Indonesia (Java?).

Very cool RP and congrats The PRS SE line are excellent guitars as you note fit finish and the playability are great.

But just so you know while the USA models can be quite expensive, there are actually PRS USA guitars that start at $2499 list ( which is up quite a bit from 2 years ago when they were $1800 )

Congrats, they’re certainly great looking guitars, and I hope to confirm the rest of your observations soon- I have the same guitar with a piezo on the way - got a great deal on a used one. How’s the neck on yours?

Yeah the S2’s did go up in price, but there’s still a few that can be had for around $1500. Even the SE’s are close to the four digits, with some already surpassing that number. Well worth the cash though, they’re great guitars.

OP that’s a beautiful guitar congrats!

That’s a beauty, and the SE line is built so well! Enjoy it!!

Beautiful guitar. I've heard some really good guitarists say that the PRS Hollowbody guitars are about as versatile as it gets. Congrats.

That is my lone electric guitar at the moment (if you don't count the Acoustasonic) in smoke burst. Very good guitar - the coil tapping sounds quite good and it'll do a pretty decent Tele impersonation. Mine has 95/05 pickups instead of 85/15 though not clear there is that much difference.

And to the OP - nice guitar. The SE instruments are quite good, and I had an SE semi-hollow as a test before springing for the US-made version.

I was quite sure you were talking about the CE line. Remember the S2’s are USA made too. [emoji4]

I love my SE Mark Holcomb though. It has nothing to envy the S2 Standard 22 I used to own.

Corwin1968 12-05-2022 01:37 PM

My decision came down to the SE Hollowbody and SE 245 and I chose the 245, which I love. I still want the Hollowbody, though! :D
