Bought these but never needed them (sold that guitar).

They are missing the bushings but those are only $4-5 and you should pick your own to get the right size

Any idea if these would work as a replacement for the Grover tuners on a Martin?

Yes - that's what I was going to do. You will need to add a second screw - they Grovers have just one and the Martins use two.

He may have been referring to open gear Grover Sta-Tites?

If you count the teeth on the gear you can also work out the ratio.
e.g. 18 teeth = 18:1 ratio.
