Glen Campbell Rips It Up On A Rickenbacker (from "Shivaree" 5-8-1965)

Here's one I ran across the other day--another one of those wonderful vintage Glen Campbell videos.

The video features Glen on an episode of the "Shivaree" syndicated television show (ran for two seasons, from 1965 to 1966), originally telecast to over 150 markets in the U.S. and seven countries internationally on May 8, 1965 (incidentally, one of the go-go dancers on the platform in the background is future actress Teri Garr).

Glen plays an instrumental version of the classic composition "White Silver Sands"--#9 US Billboard for The Bill Black Combo, 1959--on a Rickenbacker electric 12-string.

It's the same rendition of "White Silver Sands" that appears on Glen's 1965 studio album, "Bandits--The Electric 12". Note, of course, that the 1997 digitally remastered CD is re-titled: "The Bandits--The Electric 12 String".

For that album, several Wrecking Crew members helped back Glen and his Rickenbacker 12 string lead on 12 instrumentals.

On "White Silver Sands," for example, the participants included: Glen Campbell (Rickenbacker 12-string); Jerry Kolbrack (bass); Thomas Gillam (drums); and David Gates of future Bread fame on rhythm guitar.

I'm also including here a YouTube video of the digitally remastered studio recording of "White Silver Sands," from the 1997 CD "The Bandits--The Electric 12 String":
