Kraus Guitars OM sinker redwood and "family farm"black walnut.

A Kraus Guitars OM cutaway.

Sinker redwood top.

Beautifully colored quartersawn 3 piece black walnut back and sides.

3 piece black walnut neck.

Abalone rosette ring.

Gotoh gold 510's.

The black walnut for this guitar came from a large family farm near the shore of lake Ontario in Western New York. The farm has been in the family since the mid 1800's. The tree was over three feet in diameter when cut. The lumber was used to make kitchen cupboards, kitchen table and chairs, and other trim and furniture in the families house, all made by the local Amish community. This guitar was made using some of the last remaining lumber, with no boards larger than 6 inches wide.

Beautiful guitar, Bill, and I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks. Walnut and Redwood are one of those magical wood combos that sound awesome together. Even better is the family history in that Walnut. Very special instrument! Congratulations on another fine build.

Well done, Bill. The Walnut looks unique to me.

it looks as if the wood for back and sides were the same wood for the top!

I bet one in that 0000 size you make in these same woods would be a force to be reckoned with!! Beautiful work.

This was my first walnut and sinker redwood guitar, and the customer and myself were very happy with the results. The guitar had a full, resonant but controlled bass, and the mids and trebles had a nice subtle brilliance that was very pleasant. I am looking forward to another walnut and redwood guitar.
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments.
