Big Fat List of Electric Guitar Pickup Manufacturers

That you like of course. I want to buy some new pickups for my Godin, which has some okayish stock pickups. 2 singles and a humbucker. Would like it to be cheap, so handmade pickups should be out of the question. Would prefer cool rather than hot, but I'm open to suggestions, and don't really know what I'm talking about. Just want a big fat list, then I might have somewhere to start.

The list so far...

- Bartolini
- Bill Lawrence
- Carvin
- DiMarzo
- EMG
- Fender
- Gibson
- Golden Age
- GFS
- Harmonic Design
- High Order
- Jason Lollar
- Joe Barden
- John Suhr
- Kinman
- Lace
- Lindy Fralin
- Rio Grande
- Seymour Duncan
- TV Jones
- WCR
- Wolfetone

If it's not there, it's because I couldn't find any info for it on t'internet.

For starters, Carvin makes a line of replacement pickups:

http://www.carvin.com/products/group.php?CID=PU

You need to scroll down to see the individual pickup offerings

Then there is Bartolini http://www.bartolini.net/

And Kinman http://www.kinman.com/

And TV Jones http://www.tvjones.com/

And Lace http://www.agi-lace.com/electric_pic...ic_pickups.php

And Joe Barden http://www.joebarden.com/main.php

And Lindy Fralin http://www.fralinpickups.com/

Almost forgot Rio Grande http://www.riograndepickups.com/

Some of these might fall in the too expensive category but I included them because I have no any idea about the pricing for any but the Carvins .

Bern, I thought about that, but it's very difficult to filter out the crap that way. Thanks, I'll check out your suggestions, and add them to my first post.

Hate to post back from myself, but here's what I'm thinking; leaning towards the carvins. My Godin has a wierd fingerboard curvature, kinda flat for an electric, so the all-adjustable poles would give me great string balance. Not sure what effect having 11 has, supposedly helps eliminate 'dead areas'.
Also, the (direct) prices are brilliant, too, and the Harmony Central reviews seem good too, at least for the products I'm looking at. Which are the AP11 (for the neck and middle) and the H22-T, middle I'm still thinking about. But I've learnt not to trust the reviews on HC, so what do you guys think?
I play fingerstyle, and rythmn, and will mostly be playing clean or on the point of breakup with the singles, and would use the humbucker from anything like lightly overdriven to Fuzz. No metal though. The guitar has a shortish scale, mahogany body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard.
An reference point; I would like the singles to sound like "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley through an appropriate tube amp. Well defined individual notes, a smooth overall sound and tight bass are a must there. The Humbucker would hopefully be as versatile as possible, and I guess I might split the coil eventually for fun.

Thanks for your replies so far.

How are GFS pickups? I was thinking of putting one of thier brass-bottomed models in the middle, for a country-lead type sound. Been listening to lots of that stuff recently...

I had a Carvin DC200 with passive pickups and liked the sound of its pickups. Never was sure which model of pickups it came with. You'll appreciate the extra poles when you bend a note.

I have a set of Lil Killers in my strat. I tapped them (using push on, push off pots) and lost the 5 way switch, wiring them like a Jazz bass with 3 volumes so I't just about as versatile as it can be.

I can have neck pup tapped at 3 and bridge HB at 7 or any other combination you can imagine.

soundwise? all the volume you could want and a great tone too. I'd DEFINITELY buy another set, and I recomend them to any of my pupils who are building electrics. added to the quality is the service (excellent again, they lie about the package's value so no customs charges!!!) and they are SOOOOOOOO cheap it makes you feel for the poor sweatshop labourers (that everyone else uses too, GFS just don't rip US off like the other manufacturers!!

Anyone heard from Wolfetone custom pickups lately? They used to be considered quite the bomb.

How about;

Bareknuckle Pickups http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/

or Kent Armstrong http://www.kentarmstrong.com/ he used to be in the UK and re-wound the pickups on an old Strat I had. Really nice guy who worked from a shed in his back garden. Looks like he may have moved back to the USA now.
