The only response necessary would have been something along the lines of...

"Thanks. I do use a chorus pedal and I upgraded my guitar recently. I get a better tone from this one than what I had before. It's good to know that it does sound good. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some packing up to do."

I do realize that sometimes people do have bad days. We all do at times. But that's not a license to be a jerk.
