So here is a question I have had for a while and maybe someone can answer it. You see in the rosette how the separate pieces don't exactly line up with each other? How is that remedied so when it is all finished you don't see those imperfections? I have noticed that with other guitar build pictures, with binding and purfling etc and can't believe the builder would just leave it like that and must have a way to fill in the spaces or something.

You just have to take your time and get the angles and sizes right, no real shortcut. After the segments are in place routering a slot for the purfling gets the inside and outside looking tight.

I know the part you're talking about and you'll notice that this section is always underneath the fretboard. I've seen it most commonly on segmented rosettes.

There seem to be two schools of thought on this from what I've seen:

1. This part of the rosette is hidden, so additional work here to make it "perfect" in that area would be wasted time.

2. Make all parts of the rosette perfect. Sometimes this is a side-effect of the design of the rosette.

In the end it just seems to be builder preference on which way they go and I don't think there's anything to be read into the quality of the finished product from this.

The hickory neck being carved and the mesquite multiscale fretboard . The neck is dense and hard and would make great axe handle or in this case axe neck.

Looking good! No persimmon involved, which seems to be a good American substitute for ebony etc. Interesting but good choices for wood!
