SOLD Baranik Meridian

Hey, gang.

It's a gloomy day in Paris.

Due to financial pressures that I can no longer ignore, I have to let this stunning guitar go.

It’s a Mike Baranik Meridian, with a Colorado blue spruce top, über-rare black cocobolo back and sides, mahogany neck and spalted koa sapwood binding. Justonwo commissioned this guitar in 2010, and I purchased it from him in 2018. It is in mint condition and comes complete with a Hoffee case and Colorado Case Cover.

Nut width : 1 25/32"
String spacing at bridge : 2 1/4"
Scale length : 25.6"
Gold EVO frets
Lower bout : 15.5"

Unconventional trades?

Oh Marc, it's beautiful! Are you interested in unconventional trades? I have two beautiful children. One has a chipped tooth, but the little one is still mint.

But honestly - this guitar must be awesome! I just took delivery of my Baranik JX and it is fantastic!

Best of luck with the sale! It might be helpful to add some of the basic specs and dimensions here as well. I for example would love to know the nut width and saddle spacing.

Thanks, Brian! I've added some basic specs and am more than happy to respond to any queries.

I hope your JX takes your playing to another level. My Meridian certainly has.

A week has passed and she's still here.

Thanks to all those who've expressed their empathy. I'm not happy about having to sell, but it's only a guitar, after all.

To further pique the interest of those who've contacted me privately, I'm lowering the price to xxxx euros.

Deft Tungsman 01-06-2020 06:59 AM

Folks, I really must sell this guitar, so if you have any interest at all, don't hesitate to hit me up with an offer.

Price lowered to xxxx*€.

Deft Tungsman 01-22-2020 06:12 AM

I've answered all the PMs I've received. I've had several offers but am still waiting for the one that will work for me. Keep 'em coming!

Deft Tungsman 01-28-2020 06:46 AM

Bumping this up. Still getting offers that are close, but not close enough.

Deft Tungsman 02-11-2020 07:20 AM

Official "all-PMs-replied-to" bump.

Deft Tungsman 02-19-2020 12:05 PM

After more trade plus cash offers that haven't fit the bill, she is still here waiting for the right deal to come along.

Keep the offers coming!

Deft Tungsman 02-26-2020 11:12 AM

After 10,000 views and many trade offers, I'm lowering the price to xxxx, including shipping within the EU.

Baranik Meridian

I cannot believe you are selling this Deft - letting go of your great white whale!

I too understand needing to sell a guitar or two due to financial difficulties. I sold my Hamblin GC to Colin last year due to financial reasons, and I have been considering selling my "Black and Blue" Baranik CX, which is a difficult decision. That particular CX has more treble content and energy than any other similar sized Baranik I have played, which really suits my ear. With my new Kraut 00 arriving soon, I don't know that I need two Baraniks that have somewhat similar voices.

The black Cocobolo that Mike used on this guitar imparts a special, more crystalline sound to the trebles, at least on Riorider's black Cocobolo Meridian that I played. I think any buyer would be extremely lucky to end up with your Meridian.

Deft Tungsman 04-06-2020 04:30 AM

Hey, Kid, nice to hear from you !

I've been following your Kraut build, and it looks like you're in for a real treat ! I had no idea that you'd be considering selling the über-awesome Black and Blue, but I can commiserate if you do.

The decision to sell my Meridian has been an extremely difficult one, and I wavered for a very long time until I had no choice but to face the music and put her on the block.

I'm currently working out a deal with someone in my area, which we both hope to conclude soon once the COVID-19 lockdown is lifted. Sad as this situation is, at least she'll stay in the neighborhood, and with any luck I'll still get the chance to see her from time to time, although that might be even worse now that I think about it.

I'll stop writing now because just thinking about how I over-extended myself last year makes me feel like a total fool who was never truly worthy of this absolutely fascinating instrument.

Hope you're keeping well.

This guitar has found a new owner, who is a very lucky dude. She will be missed, sniff...:(

Congrats oder Condolences?

Hey Marc,

Good to hear you found a buyer for your Baranik - now I don't have to buy it!
