Acoustic open mic - Northern Massachusetts, next one Nov 28
Only ran a few last year, after a couple of years of running regular open mics.
Too many 'open mics' around this area are really 'jams' - full band set up with players more than anxious to play with you. For the solo acoustic guitarist, it always feel like you're out of place, even if they seem welcoming. And the sound system - when set up for a band - seldom sounds great for a solo guitarist/singer. Anyway, I've got a couple of try-out open mics scheduled at a local pub/restaurant where they used to have a blues jam, and feature bands on the weekends. Every other Wednesday next one - Nov 28 Muddy Waters, 940 Riverside Drive, Methuen, MA |
Tomorrow night!
If you come, please introduce yourself and let me know you saw this listing on the AGF! Sign-ups start at 7, expecting a good crowd (and Red Sox fans can watch the game on an 11 ft projection screen). |
First one went well, with 9 sign-ups, everyone got to do at least 3 songs. Expecting a few more people next week.
|
Had 13 sign-ups at the last one, bumping this up for the next one, this Wednesday.
Early sign-ups will get (at least) 3 songs, but if you we have a good turn out, late arrivals may only get 2 songs. |
Sounds like things are going well. Good on you for taking it on!
|
Tonight - Halloween! Costumes not required, but if you wear one and sign up before 7:30 you get an extra song!
|
Tomorrow night is the next one. Last one was sparse- everyone got to do 4 songs, then a 2nd round of 2 songs. Expecting more people this week. Sign up early to go early!
|
Last one was packed, ran late, but everyone who signed up before 8:30 got to do 3 songs. Next one is this Wednesday, Nov 28.
