Taylor removable pickguard

I was thinking of just picking one of these up for my new RainSong CO-WS1000N2...

Ideally it would just fit on there without any work...Anyone know for sure if this would be the case?

Anyone know how the typical Taylor sound hole size compares to a RainSong? Info that’s a bit hard to figure out...The description for the Pickguard doesn’t say much.

Are you talking about the Taylor clear "static-cling" pickguard? It might fit okay but you can alter it to fit. Being that RainSongs have a bit of a porous-finish, it may not stay put as well as it would on a Taylor smooth-gloss finish but I think it probably will.

Isn’t the concert series just a standard poly finish like any other?

It's very thin polyurethane. You will be able to see the unidirectional grain if you hold it up to the light just right. You should be just fine with the pick guard adhering though. I wouldn't even worry about it. I had a John Pearse armrest and a clear guard on my RainSong and had zero issues with them staying put.

I've used one and it work fine on a gloss RainSong. I recall it being a perfect fit to a RainSong's 4" soundhole.

I used a couple of Taylor removable pick guards on Taylors and really didn't like them because they weren't very clear. As far as Rainsongs, I'm partial to black pickguards - I like the contrast between the black pickguard and the carbon fiber weave...

Perfect.

Did you find there were any issues getting the Taylor one to adhere without bubbles? I saw some pictures on musiciansfriend, or one of those sites, as part of a review and it included pictures of one on a Rainsong...it was bubbles all over the place...buddy said he couldn’t not have it be like that.

Also, did you remove and add yours often or just leave it on for long periods?

Just curious...appreciate your time and thoughts...

Maybe I can find an electrostatic removable black one...doubt it...I’ll take a look...might look okay on the finish of the CO-WS1000N2...not sure...I agree it probably would for sure look good on a finish like say the classic series or similar...

It would seem they are out there...

I suppose it being black would solve any bubbling problems too...harder to deal with on clear ones if they occur...

Only weird thing with this product I linked, the manufacturer writes their brand name on the pick guard....bit weird...lol...not the end of the world I guess...

I'm one who likes both the look and protection afforded by a pickguard on my Rainsongs as opposed to the bubbles that seem to accompany "clear" ones. I don't currently own a black Rainsong but recall having a removable black pickguard on a previous black Rainsong. Can't recall where it came from. Both of the ones shown are tobacco burst Hybrid models, and the one on the left is a WS shape...

I just left it there and lots of bubbles. While it requires cutting your own sound hole (Xacto Razor Compass) and a little technique to get it down with no bubbles (start at one edge and swipe back and forth with a finger as you roll it down). These work well for me:

You should be able to see a uniform scattering of tiny pits in the finish where the thin polyurethane has sunk into the carbon-fiber weave.

Steelvibe suggests this guy, and it seems to review quite well...a lot of folks saying it adheres super well without bubbles, and remains easy to remove if needed...it is the cling type...I wonder what the secret sauce is that makes it so much better than the Taylor...

Only thing I can’t get my head around is the price...lol
