What do you take for arthritis?

My fretting hand pinky is giving me problems. I have Motrin, Tylenol, but I prefer Motrin. What do you use?

I tried all those OTC remedies. Naproxin was the best of them. None worked for me. Celebrex does far better than anything else I've tried....

I take prescription Celecoxib for arthritis in my knees.

Avoid all dairy.

I take extra strength Tylenol (intestines and belly won’t tolerate the others mentioned).

I just bear with it.

Chronic NSAID use can cause kidney damage, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, GI ulcers/ bleeding, and other less dangerous conditions. Intermittent use is OK (for a few days at a time).

Acetaminophen is probably the safest for chronic use, but the least effective.

Sixty six, been running and working out for 53 years, and have no arthritis at this time. I have been drinking my own prepared fresh fruit and veggie smoothies for probably 30+ years and taking fish oil for about the last 15 or so. Now, I am not going to tell you it has prevented anything as I believe genetics plays a major role in our vulnerability to degeneration and disease, but since I enjoy it anyway, who cares, right?

Currently, besides daily exercise and my beloved smoothies, I take

Nordic Naturals liquid omega-3 1 tsp/day

Ibuprofen is the NSAID that works best for me as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory. I'm not taking it currently during the COVID-19 epidemic since there are reports that taking ibuprofen with a COVID-19 infection can worsen the infection. So for the foreseeable future I'll be taking acetaminophen as an alternative for my arthritis pain even though it has no anti-inflammatory effect.

Meloxicam as needed. Ibuprofen when I think that will do it.

Fish oil. My doc says everyone over 50 should be taking fish oil every day to ward off arthritis and other joint maladies.

Arthritis

A locally produced medicine Hereabouts is called Talisker. Various flavours exist but the older the better. Dose age is about 35-50ml. It’s quite expensive but available without prescription. It’s also efficacious for other ailments and highly recommended...

I'll get some. I guess because I'm playing more from being sheltered in it sort of aggravated the finger joint too. I guess I'll take the rest of the day off from playing.

I made an appt with my doctor for tomorrow, via Zoom, so we'll see what she says. I had posted the question in a fb group and got a lot of suggestions, but I want to run it past my MD because of the BP and prostate Rx I have to take everyday.
