Celebrating Summer: Your Favorite Summer Songs
Looking at my calendar, I see that we are almost spack-dab in the middle of summer. How about everyone sharing their thoughts of their favorite summer tunes.
If possible, please post a vid of the song being performed. I'll start with "Summer in the City" by the Lovin' Spoonful. Here's a real cheesy lip-sync version. |
For me, two songs immediately came to mind...Summer Breeze by Seals & Crofts and Boys of Summer by Don Henley.

I'm a New Yorker. John Sebastian lives just over the mountain from me in Woodstock. Of course, I love ''Summer in the City''!

My favorite summer song is A Summer Song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfvL2oLeBYs "One of the prettiest songs ever written" says Dick Clark, & I agree. |
"Under the Boardwalk", of course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9OgwLZRTmM

But we do have lots of good music around here! |
At the risk of turning this into a JS appreciation thread, here's John trying out a Kinnaird guitar at last years Woodstock Luthiers Showcase;

RE: John Sebastian: This weekend here in L.A. is a monthly open mic with a theme. This month is Woodstock. So I'm planning on doing at least one JS tune.
Thanks, everyone, for all your great posts. Frank, I have taken the liberty of turning your posted song into a screen shot. For those who don't know how to do that (as I didn't know for years), here's how it works, at least on AGF: vfvL2oLeBYs) after the second youtube, no space, and it should work fine. Hope this helps. Scott Memmer |
Sunny Afternoon by the Kinks springs to mind almost immediately.
