HNGD Aristides 020

I don't know if this is the right forum because the guitar is electric and only partially carbon fiber. It does not contain any wood at all though.

Anyway, here is my new Aristides 020:

Aristides guitars are built to order. The ordering process is similar to Emerald's. I chose the custom gold / white pearl hardware, and a custom finish which I call Onyx Green Marble.
I would have preferred the pickup rings in white but apparently the standard aluminum ones are specifically tailored to the dimensions of the guitar and cannot be replaced.

The fretboard may look like wood but in reality it is made of richlite. Even the fretboard markers are in a custom color that I specified.

The pickups for those interested are Bare Knuckle Mississippi Queens.

Looks pretty cool. A couple quick questions.

What's the HUGE cover on the back for? It looks like the controls are all located in a pretty confined space that would be easy to get to with a smaller cover...

Why spec humbucker shaped P90s instead of the real thing? I know those are a pretty good solution with a guitar that's routed for HB's already, but if your having a custom built, why not just go with P90s? Do you plan to swap back and forth with humbuckers at some point?

That's a very beautiful guitar!

The huge cavity is there for versatility. For example, Aristides guitars often come with Fishman Fluence active pickups including the USB rechargeable battery pack. That will all fit in there.

You can specify colors and such but the shape that comes out of the mall is set. Soapbar P90s is simply not an option for this model. They have different models that can be fitted with single coils.

Here are some factory pics of the work in progress.

Ahh, makes perfect sense, thanks...

Enjoy it - I'm a strat guy from way back but I also LOOOOOOVE P90s, so if those Mississippi Queens do a good approximation, that should be a fun guitar!

That is definitely unique, congratulations.

Nice! I have been reading about these instruments lately... I wonder how it would hold up over time when compared to an all carbon fiber instrument?

Guest 928 05-31-2019 09:03 AM

I wonder how its price point compares, say, to a Blade?

mountainmaster 05-31-2019 10:49 AM

Evan, Aristides guitars are roughly in the same price range as Emerald.

Mountain;

Thank you. I like the 8 string even though I have enough trouble playing six.
