Jeff Beck with Nils Lofgren in Phoenix
Totally blown away by him and his band. I have probably seen him more than any other. He is flawless and can play better that 40 years ago. His band was so tight and consummate professionals. Every time I hear him play Big Block it just gets better. With Vinnie, Rhonda, and a fabulous cellist itís a must see.

The opening solo acoustic act was Nils Lofgren who was fantastic.

How I wish JB would show up somewhere remotely close- by.
Agree that his playing is constantly evolving, he still has that drive to explore
and expand his formidable repertoire.
Luck you !

I've seen Nils Lofgren numerous times over the years, going back to when he still did the famous flip, quite a sight! He really is a great performer.

It was 12 years ago when he last played in Phoenix....

Thanks for that report, Lodgy. I've not seen Jeff Beck live, but would dearly love to.

Nils lives in Scottsdale, and I seen him quoted as saying Jeff is his favorite living guitar player. This must have been a special show for him, on home turf and opening for a hero. Did they play together at all?

I'll be seeing Nils again for the for the umpteenth time in September, and he remains a favorite after 40 plus years. I got into him as an electric player, but his show is mostly acoustic these days. He plays both electric and acoustic with a thumb pick and fingers. Influences include Hendrix, Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton and Chet. He flies under the radar as a solo artist, with a small but very loyal fan base.

Glad you enjoyed the show!
