Graphite guitars

Opinions anyone? I heard someone talking about an adonis? not sure how it's spelled but tell me about it

Do a quick search on "composite" and you'll find tons of info and opinions about them. I have one...sturdy, good sounding, impervious to environmental conditions.

You're probably thinking of Adamas.

Ovation Adamas was first to really market a composite sound board. Theirs is composite and birch laminate. Goes back to the Glen Campbell days. I still like their looks and some of the early ones are thought very highly of. They are the top of the Ovation line, not cheap and you just don't see them in shops. Rainsong, Composite Acoustics, Blackbird, and Emerald have taken carbon to the next level with totally composite guitars. Very cool guitars, but market is fairly narrow but options now are expanding and you really have to search for examples to play. Worth the investigation, but it will be a quest but fun.

adonis = adamis = ovation
okey guitar but i found the round back difficult to hold without a strap.

now we have 100% composite = ca, rainsong ,emerald
my self i have a ca cargo great little travel guitar

still prefer my Larrivee om 3 and om 9 for the tone, but
the fact i can take this guitar anywhere, leave it in the car, not worry about humidifying

1984 Adamas

Not all were carbon-birch-carbon top... I had an '84 that was an all carbon top.

I've had a couple of Ovation Adamas guitars and they've both been some of my favorites. My 1982 Adamas II (1681-7), which had a Suspension-Ring top and A-bracing (as I recall), was my first experience with carbon-fiber. The tops of these guitars were actually a laminate of carbon fiber/birch/carbon fiber and had a very magical and balanced crystalline tone compared to anything I'd ever heard before. My other Adamas was a 2008 Adamas 2080 NWT. This guitar was a non-Suspension-ring design, with cutaway body and it had scalloped-X-bracing. It didn't have as much crystalline tone as my Adamas II but a Martin HD-28 didn't have anything over this guitar in the bass-frequency range!

I must get another Ovation Adamas! Love 'Em!

1681-7 mine was like this one: http://www.ovationtribute.com/Adamas...7/ovation1.JPG

2080 NWT mine was like this one: http://ova-dev.mineralstudios.com/pi...5550125928.png
