Jerusalem Ridge on a Bob Thompson OM
I posted a Christmas tune and it got deleted. I have no idea why, but I'm going to try it again with this tune instead. This is a Bill Monroe tune called Jerusalem Ridge. Played on my Bob Thompson OM, EIR back and sides and Red Spruce top.

Wow, Allen that's a great performance of a fave tune and one heck of a great sounding guitar!!!
I've always kept an eye out for one of his instruments - saw his "bio" video on his site several years back and immediately liked the guy - so endearing. Again, very well done! |
That sounded great, thank you for posting. I reviewed all your threads and there is no thread of you with a Christmas song which was deleted. Perhaps there was an error when posting, but I just wanted you to know that it was not deleted by any of the moderators that I can find.

Allen,
Very nice arrangement. I've been paying a couple variations of this tune for 2yrs now, give or take & can definitely try to incorporate a few of your licks! The version I learned is from Bryan Sutton. One thing that always stood out to me, is the "timing" in the 'C' part. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, with regard to the original Monroe version. IMO, it has a different sound/ feel than the way I play it. Thanks in advance & thanks for sharing. |
Outstanding playing as usual Allen.

Thanks for the reply, Allen.
The variations that I play are straight timing in a four count, as you say. It just seems there's a little more 'swing' in your version, and in the original. |
Mighty fine geetar pickin', mighty fine.
One of my favorite tunes - still working on it. CK |
Love it Allen! Thanks for sharing! And that Thompson sounds great (though I’m sure you could make pretty much anything sing!).
