Stepping up my acoustic rig, looking for feedback

Howdy folks, this is my first post to the forum. I spend my time over at the TalkBass forum as that's where my bread and butter is. I do solo acoustic shows and I use just a basic setup. A 2012 Martin D-18 with a K&K mini in to a U5 (which I got for my bass but works great for acoustic) into the PA. This setup sounds good but nothing to really write home about.

I just ordered a 2018 OM-28 and I am going to install the K&K trinity system which has the mini and a gooseneck microphone. My plan to run into the K&K Pro 2 channel preamp that has the controls on the inside then separate the signals from there.

I plan to send the pickup signal from the K&K to a RANE EQ (which I already have) then through some sort of reverb pedal into my existing U5 to the board. I then plan to send the MIC signal to the other side of the RANE EQ then to another U5 to the PA. Since I don't have the guitar or MIC yet I am curious of anyone has used an internal mic with a U5. Its all line level I'm assuming, but I can't seem to find anything of people doing it. Maybe the U5 isn't a good match for a microphone? I know they make a Mic Pre but that's a lot of $$$ than the U5.

Any ideas or feedback? Thanks!!

I have never used an Avalon U5 active preamp DI, @jsandbloom. The owners manual may help with your questions:
