How to Tone down an acoustic..Recording with one mic?
My acoustic is louder/or just as loud as me but more treble...How do I cut the highs on the guitar?. A feedback hole plugger :) drape a blanket over the guitar?
My AT2020 is picking up both me and the guitar, So separate mic's won't work. Mic placement? or position? Right now I have it upside down about 16in from me |

You could try turning the mic sideways (parallel to the floor) and angling it up toward your face to make the guitar slightly off-axis, and hopefully less bright.

But this one is bright also I'm working on building a studio in my garage, Picked up three Cubicle dividers (Cloth covered) That should help tone down everything but until winter is over I'm stuck inside my office with bare walls.. |
Producer/engineer Val Garay was faced with the same dilemma when he was tasked with recording James Taylor. James always plays his guitar when he records vocals. Val went out and bought a sheet of plexiglass and fashioned a divider that he mounted on boom stands and placed above the guitar, allowing some separation for miking with two mics.

Why not experiment with guitar strings? If you're using bronze strings try Martin Monel strings which are less bright or try coated strings.

So there are two things to consider, one is level balance between the vocal and the guitar , and the other is the guitar having more treble than your vocal.
You have indicated that the guitar is louder or simply more treble than your vocal . So first you should probably first decide which really is the issue. Because the guitar producing more treble should be feature not an issue per se. That is to say it should help distinguish your guitar from you voice which is actually a good thing in a mix . So first I would try to adjust the balance as per the suggestions so far, move the mic closer to your mouth than the guitar, or angle it up more towards your mouth . Then if it still seems too much treble, try different strings or if you flat pick a heavier pic |

Im going to try a mic sock |
Elixer Polywebs. Double coated, & tames the trebles. I call it de-Taylorizing.
