Yamaha LL-45

Thought I’d share some pics of my dads Yamaha LL-45 since I’ve talked about it in a few threads

My dad bought it in 88 around when I was born and it was his only guitar for about twenty years

He let me start borrowing it towards the end of last March and it’s just been amazing

I want to get some better pictures eventually

It’s something else, just amazing

I changed the strings and hit one chord, had to call my dad to ask him if he knew how good it sounded

He played a ton and still does, the guitar is as recognizable to me as he is

Almost dropped it flat on its face the first day too

I did what I can so far

The back is especially hard to photograph cause it’s so reflective

These were better than the first set I took but I want better ones still

ericlosh 01-16-2021 12:18 AM

And a video of him playing it

Thanks Eric for sharing your story and pictures of your Dad’s LL45! Gorgeous looking guitar!

It’s a pity that the sound is not working in the video. Would love to hear how it sounded.

Wow, that guitar looks to be in incredible shape. Are those pictures recent?

I hope 30 years from now my son is expressing the same level of interest in my 56 ;-0

He’s 8 right now, so for some reason he’s not beating my door down yet to play it. Lego guitars are more his thing ;)

Spook69 01-16-2021 02:54 AM

Lovely looking guitar.

Any sound clips?

lowrider 01-16-2021 05:10 AM

That's a beautiful guitar!

Matts67 01-16-2021 05:17 AM

Amazing! Brazilian back and sides?

Yep

Took em within the last few months or so

All in time

I didn’t start playing consistently till I was 28-29 or so

jontewright 01-16-2021 06:32 AM

Looks lovely thanks for sharing!
Can’t hear any sound on the video though.

Originally my pictures didn’t load

Thanks for sharing the story and the photos!

YamahaGuy 01-16-2021 08:11 AM

Wow! What a sweet LL! Is that a set list taped to it?

Dru Edwards 01-16-2021 08:20 AM

Great history and beautiful Yamaha!

What material is used to cover what I assume is an old barn door? Cardboard or paper?

OneThing 01-16-2021 08:37 AM

That is just lovely!

Yes! It’s from when my dad last played it regularly

He ended up with a tippin crescendo really liked it and got one made to his specs which eventually resulted in him not playing this one too much

I consider that set list priceless and I’m leaving it there as long as it lasts

Not sure, no barn door. What picture are you referring to?

This pic ... or is it a setlist?

Yes it’s a set list, my dad played this guitar a ton then eventually got a tippin crescendo then another one built to his specs and those two eventually retired the Yamaha. He plays those two crescendos and a martin 000-28EC these days

lol, a setlist. I initially thought it was a barn door hole in the guitar, at an odd place.

That aside, beautiful, well aged guitar with what must be an amazing tone.
