As some of you may have noticed, I recently changed my mind about a spectacular set of ziricote.

Ray had a more classic looking set that I really couldn't pass and he kindly accepted to switch gears at the very last minute.

Here's the set that won me over -- build pictures to come soon.

I'm not sure why they don't display on this page as I have no problem opening them in a new tab...but man, that is one gorgeous set of BRW. Looking forward to this thread!

ericcsong 04-19-2012 01:51 PM

looks great! congrats! :)

usb_chord 04-19-2012 02:07 PM

BRW...as in Brazilian Rosewood? If so, that's some serious, investment grade wood you got there!

TimberlineGuy 04-19-2012 03:19 PM

Holy Mother of Wood! That set is spectacular! I'm really looking forward to this thread as Ray is at the top of my list when the time comes. I hope for many frequent updates!

JoeCharter 04-19-2012 03:24 PM

Thanks guys!

Here's a picture of the sides as well.

Ray is having an open-house this Sunday, if anyone is in the Eugene-area.

Joe, I may ask Ray to pull out that set, but I promise I won't get any drool on it. That is the good-stuff!

I have a hankerin' for a BRW-built guitar, but I've been avoiding woods that might cause a problem for me at a border-crossing. I'll just enjoy the thought of *your* guitar being built!

No need to drool, Larry... ;)

If Ray finishes the guitar early, you could spend a few days with it if you'd like. Euro spruce top, fan fret, no cutaway...

Simon Fay 04-19-2012 05:49 PM

That is easily one of the nicest Brazilian RW sets I have ever seen -- quality like that is so very hard to find now. Congratulations!!!

Billy Boy 04-19-2012 08:10 PM

Yes, Ray has some absolutely outstanding sets of BRW! To some, a set such as this or the one I selected may be boring...but, to me, they are simply divine! Congratulations!

Diamondave 04-19-2012 08:55 PM

WOW! That looks the set from a SCGC 1934 D I had.... best there is! Exciting! Cant wait to see this come together!

Larry Pattis 04-19-2012 09:10 PM

.................

JoeCharter 04-19-2012 09:17 PM

Thanks for your words of encouragement, guys.

The biggest departure for me will be the multi-scale. I can't wait to play one and feel the difference for myself.

Unlike my upcoming Olson and Leach (which will both feature too many inlays on the fingerboard), I asked Ray to keep the board clean and the inlay work will mostly go on the body -- custom rosette + custom inlays TBD.

keyshore 04-20-2012 11:07 AM

wow what a set of wood Joe!!

If this one looks this good now, I can only imagine what is will look like on a guitar under finish!

Spectacular!! and all the best for the build.

best,

Keyshore

It's like melted Godiva chocolate!! Gonna be gorgeous!

Looking good... I myself is waiting for my Kraut Mod D 12 fret (euro/Braz) due late this year:)

peterandy01 04-24-2012 03:32 AM

That's a really nice set of BRW! Like many of the others, I can't wait to see how this turns out and how it sounds!

Billy Boy 04-24-2012 01:06 PM

I saw this set "up close" this past weekend at Ray's barbeque...it's even more stunning in person! Congratulations!

JoeCharter 05-30-2012 10:16 AM

Sorry I've been swamped with work for the past little while.

The back will be glued on this week.

In the interim, here are pictures of the rosette.

Congrats Joe, to you and Ray on a spectacular creation. Love everything about it so far. Really special. I'm sure the hearing will blow us all away.

Thanks Dennis.

I'm really happy so far. I'll make an effort to produce a quality recording with it. I should have my hands on the guitar in just about a month.
