An ESP 400 Series Strat copy. Traded it in to buy a Les Paul that I also no longer own (though that one I don't particularly miss).

Also miss a Hamer Special FM that was my first really nice electric.

'58 Les Paul burst, sold in 1995 for a house in California.

Wow! That's the holy grail. How did you originally acquire it? Guessing you had it for years.

One, or both, of the two '78 RD Artists I had.

I'm not familiar with those Gibsons. Did it look like this '78 RD Artist? (Source: vintageguitar.com)

Yes, but both of mine were in Ebony (black). Wonderful guitars.

I was offered a 1956 Les Paul Special in the late 90's by a close friend for $2000 (it was mint). I could have bought it, but I was low on money, and I chickened out, because I thought I was being responsible. What a mistake, it was a great guitar. I knew it well because he let me use it for a few recordings. I still kick myself over that! And every time I hear one of those recordings I kick myself again :)

Sounds like a sweet guitar. That would have been more expensive than a new Les Paul Standard back then.

Yeah, I had two of them, but not at the same time. I had the two in the 1981-1984 period. They make for some great recorded tones. and play like a dream, you know, like a hot knife through butter kind of dream. If it weren't for needing money at the time I'd still one of them. I really loved the singing long sustain those guitars offered with their MOOG electronics.

Years ago a “friend” wanted to borrow my early sixties Gretsch Tennessean Chet Atkins. He gave me a Gibson Heritage as collateral. When I went back a few months later to get the Gretsch he told me he had sold it and to keep the Gibby.

To add insult to injury, I lent the Gibby to my (now Ex) wife’s son to take to school. When he came home, he told me he had pawned it.

I know, twice burned, I’m an idiot.

Ugh, I hate to think about it.
1. Pre CBS Fender strat, gone a long time.
2. Late 60's Gibson SG jr. Single humbucker. Super neck.

Stratcat77 12-14-2018 09:59 AM

1979 Les Paul Silverburst.

Late 70's (not certain of exact year) Les Paul Goldtop

1976 Gibson Explorer

After crying to my wife about silly trades I regret from when I was younger, she now refuses to let me sell off anything! The truth is, I have a bunch of stuff I never ever play since I switched to acoustic...

You're not an idiot but that's tough on those two guitars.

A 1979 Les Paul Standard in tobacco sunburst, beat to hell. I bought it used at Gil Southworth's shop outside of DC in the late 1990s. A friend was super into PRS at that time and I foolishly drank the Kool-Ade and sold the Les Paul to get a Custom 22. I remember nothing good about that PRS (or any other PRS before they came out with the McCarty 594, which I now have and love) but I sure remember that Les Paul - the best one I ever had.
