What Width is My 80's Taylor Dreadnaught's Neck?
I am trying figure out what series my 80s dreadnaught is. I know....you are probably thinking look at the serial number!! I would but the sticker has fallen off or was removed during its last repair. There was a crack down the center of the back and it had to be glued right where the sticker was. I know it was built in the 80s because I had looked it up several times prior. I can't bring this guitar out on the road anymore, it requires too much maintenance. I am wondering if there might be any other identifying factors to my guitar other than the serial number??
I am trying to find out the width size of the neck. I recently purchased a new (used) Taylor 410 built in 2001 serial #20010813058 and the neck is noticeably wider by what feels to be a lot. I would love to know the neck size of my 80s Taylor!! Thoughts? |

Just... measure it?

Are you able to post pics either here or on the Unofficial Taylor Guitar Forum?
Someone familiar with early Taylors may be able to ID it. |
I am reasonably sure that it has a 1 1/116 neck width. That was common for Taylor in that decade and the next... especially the dreadnoughts.

Wow, probably took longer to type the question than to find a ruler or tape measure

Rulers and tape measures are cheap. Everybody should have at least one or the other.

Ted, I don't understand what under the neck block means. Do you mean to remove the neck? The sticker on the inside of my guitar is gone. |
