Fixing a nick on back of headstock

I picked up a nice 2018 Gibson J-15 Walnut Burst on Reverb last week. It arrives Tuesday and is in excellent shape except for this nick on the headstock. Purely cosmetic and can’t be seen from the front of the headstock. So I’m planning on just lightly touching it up with some scratch remover.

Does that sound right...or is there something more I should do?

I think you're on the right track with the dye pens, using one that matches that walnut stain. If you wanted to go a bit further, after color-matching you could probably drop-fill the chip back up to the level of the original finish and polish it.

One nice thing about the nitrocellulose finish used on those guitars is that it's very user-friendly for these kinds of repairs...blends back in, polishes up nicely.

You could try filling the space (after the stain marker) with CA glue (gel). Mask off the area with tape to confine the glue. Gently level with a razor blade.
