How would you describe that Mando from a tonal perspective?

I have never played one apart from a few chords once taught me at a Rennaissance Festival (more than 30 years ago and I was in no condition to remember them) but have become a huge Chris Thile fan.

So I dig me the tone of a good mando!

Yeah, the tone is ... ummmm ..... wonderful! The traditional mandolin for Bluegrass has the f holes. I'd say this instrument probably wouldn't work as well for that style: the tone is a little "boomier", maybe more like a small guitar. Luckily I dont play bluegrass so its not an issue for me. But its great for the folk/acoustic singalong stuff which we usually end up playing.

At 1st I was shipping my pants but then I got really stupid and thought the 16oz uke pushing up against it would keep it in check lol. The couch was gripping it pretty well and I had someone standing near in case it fell while i took the pics.

I picked her up about a month ago and can't put it down. Some of my other acoustics will be going on the market.

Concert Stage, the top of the MIK before you get into the Bend built. I've been looking to pick up a used US built but when this one popped it's head up I had to snap it up.

Love this guitar...

Good luck on that search! I bought one of my Breedloves new, but got another one used in a trade here on the forum. Keep your eyes peeled!

Dude ... that maple is just sick-looking! Or is that just heavily figured mahogany???

Here is mine, the ever so popular AC25/SR Plus. Great guitar and I picked it up on clearance right before it was disconinued. This guitar sounds great and is now, according to the S/N, just over 7 years old. It is strung with Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze but I really don't like them on this guitar and will put something else soon. It is upgraded with a Colosi bone saddle and has been babied and adequately humidified. As for any complaints, I have found that for my fingerstyle preferences that I like a guitar with a minimum of 1 3/4 nut. This one has a 1 11/16. It also has the barn door preamp which I just can't stand anymore- on any guitar. I really do have gas for either an Oregon Concert or OM/SMYe (which now also has been discontinued). I can't believe Breedlove discontinued their OM bodies!

2011 American Series C25/SR. Great low end. Crazy sustain. Loud as a canon but really well balanced.

Hey Twilo, your guitar was the 2,719 guitar of this model built in June of 2006. I'm basing this information off of what I received from the website before the model was discontinued and site redesigned. You can contact Breedlove to verify but I'm pretty sure this is accurate.

I should have went American series. i picked up the C25/Pro and was blown away by the bass response. Excellent playability too. Nice guitar!

WOW! That might just be the sexiest mahogany back I've ever seen.

andydufresne 02-24-2015 03:06 AM

I haven't seen any stage dreadnoughts around, so here's mine. I didn't really care for pointy headstocks and lightning bolt bridges, so I'm happy with their new choices:

I bought it in November 2014, so it has laminated sides / solid back rosewood.
Sorry for the pic quality, I'm currently moving and don't have time for a proper set up.

What model designations separate the USA models from Imports?

I LOVE the sound of my Martin OMC-28 BUT can't get used to the wider neck and string spacing. It's 1.75" at the nut and 2 1/4" bridge spacing.
I also have an old Guild D40, my first good acoustic, and it's a bit small at 1 5/8" at the nut. So……I need an 00, 000, or OM, preferably with a cutaway, that has a 1 11/16" Nut and 1 1/8" String spacing.

Any suggestions for a Breedlove that fits that bill?

B/L does not make a stock guitar with a 1 11/16" nut, Their 1 3/4" nut has a 2 3/16" string spacing at the Saddle that is just like the Martin Performing Artist taper they use on just about all their stock standards these days. The B/L lineup for their American made models starts out. Oregon series, Premier, Legacy, Masterclass, and Exotic series, then their custom shop models. Your Martin has the specs of the models that Ted stocks as his Custom Martin models at, http://www.laguitarsales.com/ . B/L will have just about everything you may need in a guitar at http://breedlovemusic.com/ . Hope this helps!

As a matter of full disclosure, I am an official Breedlove artist. But I had already owned nine Breedloves before that happened! My first Breedlove is this first photo -- an Atlas AD25/SR+ from 2004. I was looking for something to play on stage as my Takamine EAN-16C was nice, but... I got this Breedlove and was blown away at the sound acoustically (plugged in, not so bad either). I got lucky with this guitar, as there is a bit of bearclaw in the solid spruce top.

And my Cascade Jumbo J25/CRe...

These are two of the Atlas series I perform with – another AD25/SR+ and a jumbo AJ250/SF+ 12-string.

I have a few others... mostly backups for the performance guitars. I have several others I lust after and hopefully will one day play. Love my Breedloves!

I don't know where the photos went... I'll try and fix. Bummer...

I've only heard one Breedlove that belongs to a friend. He loves that guitar and has had it for years.

It sounds horrible to my ear. But hey, it's not mine and I don't have to play it.

toomanycats 03-24-2015 09:34 PM

I'm new to guitar playing, but I recently played a Breedlove C20 SMYR limited edition Oregon series that totally blew me away w/ its amazing tone and power. If I had more money in my bank account, it would have come home with me! I am jealous of all of you Breedlove owners if your guitars sound anything like that one!;)

steelvibe 03-24-2015 09:48 PM

I love your OM flyer! I'm super bummed that BL has discontinued all OM body shapes. Back in 2013 I was eyeballing the Oregon OM but they have stopped all production of them.

midwinter 03-24-2015 10:36 PM

Thanks! Sorry, I missed this when you posted it. This is a great guitar and a fantastic value for the money (vs equivalent Taylors, etc).

If you are patient you can find them on E-bay or Craig's list. The Premier line-up is in essence the replacement for the Am-series. You can also go custom shop and have one built to your specs.

New Premier/Mahogany Dread W/pickguard!

Here is my latest BL It's a Premier Dreadnought Mahogany that is just about as good as it gets. My camera does it no justice, I'll do a sound check as soon as I get decent recording equipment.
