THGCo 2022 "Solis" cutaway in Bubinga & Bearclaw-Sitka

Hello Folks...this is a brand new guitar that was built for Tom Bowersox' BIG show held in New Braunfels, Texas. It's my "Solis" model, which is similar to an Auditorium or SJ size, and it's the largest instrument in the Two Hands Guitar Company lineup. This guitar was the most popular of the four I brought to the show, and there are many people here on the forum who have played it, and who could offer their impressions.

This guitar was created not only for her big, full, rich,overtone-laden voice...but to also be a visual show-piece. It features a fully-trimmed Florentine Cutaway, a one-piece Honduran Mahogany neck, and a Mastergrade Alaskan Bearclaw-Sitka Spruce soundboard sitting atop Exhibition-grade Waterfall-figured Bubinga back and sides. The fingerboard, bridge, front and back headstock plates, bevels & bindings are all crafted from Gabon Ebony...and the purflings are crafted from 3D-figured Flamed Maple with black veneer lines. It has a Modified X-Fan bracing pattern underneath the soundboard, and all of the bracing has been crafted from Tunnel-14 Redwood.

Here’s a link to a YouTube video of Carl Miner playing this guitar. It’s only an iPhone video, but a pretty good one, nevertheless…

This guitar was definitely one of the top standouts at the B.I.G. 2022 show. Everyone who touched it fell in love. It has a fantastic depth and mystery in the sound, and it's mighty easy on the eyes too. This is the kind of guitar that takes most luthiers twenty years to know how to build.
In the video of Carl Miner playing it, it sounds great- almost has a 1940s Martin Dreadnaught kind of vibe in the iPhone recording. But in person, this guitar will eat any dreadnaught for lunch and pick its teeth with the tone bars. I don't know quite how to describe this, but this Bubinga guitar sounds both high-end vintage and thoroughly modern. It stands in the same class as a Greenfield, or a Kostal, or any of the Somogyi graduates.

I've been here nearly 20 years and this is easily a top 5 favorite instrument from the aesthetic standpoint - just really well executed!

And, it sounds wonderful as well - icing on the cake!

I will simply state that this guitar, both aesthetically and sonically, lives up to whatever superlatives you wish to use. In person, the woods and workmanship are amazing. I was lucky enough to spend a good amount of time with this guitar, and if life circumstances were a little different, I’d have bought it. Delicate playing or strumming, singing along or instrumental, it sounds fantastic. Besides that, Joel is one of the finest people I have had the chance to get to know. Whoever winds up with this instrument will be very lucky, indeed.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I love the Christmas Season. It’s my favorite time of the year. So, in an effort to get into the spirit and start feeling “merry” a little early, I’ve decided to add a little bit of “jingle” to someone else’s holiday season. From now through the end of the year, I’m offering this beautiful guitar at the discounted price of $7500. Email me if you’re interested, and we’ll get it shipped out in time for you and your family to sing Christmas carols under your tree.

I have loved all of Joel’s guitars. This one made an especially big splash at BIG last summer. It’s unique in many ways, and the end result is a sweet yet powerful guitar. Dave

I've played this guitar. It looks great and plays great, and sounds great. My recommendation is to buy this while you can get it at such a great price.

Every time I look at these pics I think you should call this guitar "The Wave" for the beautiful woods!

Joel Teel 01-27-2023 02:29 PM

Dave, John and Todd…thank you all for your comments. I appreciate all three of you guys very much.

This guitar continues to thrill me every time I play her. I know that her person is out there, and she’s going to be gone one day…but while she’s still here with me, I continue to fall in love…over and over.

Remember folks…I offer a 3-day trial period on my guitars, so there’s no risk to you if you’d like to find out for yourself what everyone here has been saying about this girl.

I truly appreciate the comments you've all brought to this post. Today has been a bittersweet experience for me. I’m truly excited for Scott W. because he’s finally found his dream guitar…but I’m also a little sad because I’ll never be able to come out in the shop and play this guitar ever again.
