Amazing acoustic guitar videos
 

Anyone ever heard of Trace Bundy, the Acoustic Ninja? This guy is awesome - he uses a ton of cool techniques like tapping, harmonics, percussion, multiple capos, etc. He's definitely the best guitarist I've ever seen live. He plays a Taylor too. Here are some of his videos from his website:

I just started playing a year ago and that guy makes me want to put down my guitar, lest I think I'll never been 1/2 as good as his middle finger is :( Simply awesome. I'm going to order his DVD's next week. Thanks for the link!

Dude, I'm sure you'll be better than his middle finger! :) However, I don't think you should ask him to show you his middle finger the next time you see him :D

is he using a taylor 314ce?

It actually looks to be a 514ce Cedar from a few years back (abalone rosette).

Just practice tapping 10 minutes a day, 3 days per week.
A highly amplified guitar, scales, hammer-ons, pull-offs,
and two handed tapping is his secret.
There's also a couple of other guitars in the mix.

I think his CD is even better than the DVD! It is definitely a 714. It has Rosewood Back/Sides, that you can see on the DVD. :)

I get that the gain is cranked way up for the tapping but what I don't understand is how balanced the strumming sounds are when the gain is cranked up so high to bring up the taps???

Yeah, I think Fngrstyl is right, it's a 714ce. You are also right that the CD from the CD/DVD combo is awesome. I listen to it all the time. His DVD has some pretty funny special features on it though - like ninjas fighting in the background during his song "Acoustic Ninja".

He has a newer song that he played at his concert where he moves the capos around as he plays, throughout the song. I've never seen anything like it. Very fun.

I got his CD/DVD off of his website. I received it in like 3 days.

I think he uses a looper on that last one. Cool stuff.
His gain must be set high which is why he has that feedback buster in the sound hole.

He doesnt have a Feedback Buster. If you watch the DVD you can see that he doesnt. :) It does look like it a little from the videos off the web.

Cool stuff . . . the secret, though, is that it looks a lot harder than it actually is. ;)

I learned some of these techniques when I was imitating Michael Hedges, and I've written a couple of pieces that are all tapping like that. I decided not to record them, though, because it's just doesn't feel like "me" . . . it always makes me feel like I'm trying to be Hedges, or Preston Reed, etc.

I like watching and listening to players like that, though.

I just got my looper a couple weeks ago and didn't even think of the tapping thing, though I have 2 tunes I do that on. (Not as well of course). Still say there is a feedback buster, just like mine as a matter of fact. But I will admit I was wrong once, back in '87 on a Tuesday morning around 10:37. I had the Flu and it was snowing.

lol.. just once? :) that was funny. Trust me, there isn't one. You can see some of the bracing through the soundhole on the DVD.
