14 fret Twin

Update on the 14 fret Twin. Sides and lining are bent and laminated. I like using laminated linings. Been doing them on most my guitars for years. Makes for a extremely rigid rim set. That allows the energy to stay on the top and not down the sides. Here are some pics.

Fantastic work!....if I missed it, I apologize...the laminated sides, all the lams out BR? I'm assuming all BR.

Laminate sides...

Laminated sides and solid linings. This is a beauty that will RING.

Funny. I had a 1951 Ludwig snare drum that looked much the same from the inside.
Mahogany with maple hoops. Best snare out of the dozens I went through...

Carry in and have FUN

Paul

Thank you! The inner and outer laminates are Brazilian.

That's the concept make the sides stiff like a drum!

Update

I'd say this thread is in need of a update lol. All three guitars are off to finish. They are turning out great and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you. Over the next week I'll back track and get everything up to speed. In the pics below the backs are prepped and ready for bracing. More to come in the days ahead. Thanks for looking!

Here are a few pics of my backs being glued on and some rosettes. The Trinity rosette has micro abalone purflings and the twins have Brazilian tiled rosettes with silver purflings.

I sat down and played several of my guitars the last few days and I'm always shocked by how much better my Doerr Mod D is than any other guitar. Its just and incredible instrument. Nearly every time I spend time with it I find myself drawn in for at least 30 minutes or more. Usually several new song ideas come out of the incredible tone it has. It really is tough to put the guitar down and tough to want to play anything else once you have played it for a while!! Its in its own league!

Who ever is getting these two Mod Ds is in for a real treat!!! I'd love to play more of them. Tom's guitars are second to none, the best of the best!!
