Eh, why not.

Sometime here in the near future (my family and I are in the process of moving into a new place with a workshop), I figure I'll pop the back off my old Takamine, replace the bridge plate (rosewood veneered plywood) and do a tiny bit of scalloping. I figure if I screw anything up, I'm literally out XX bucks (what I paid for it).

I've done back reglues on old Gibby archtops, but never anything with binding. I've done some invisible finish touch ups with CA glue.

Dunno why I'm posting this, not really looking for advice (although I certainly won't turn any down).

How about GIVING some advice?

Where do I get a Takamine for XX bucks?

Grabbed it at a Houston area swap meet. It had high action, needed a refret, and a huge crack in the treble bout (check out my pics in the MIJ Lovers thread). Guy wanted XX, I got it for XX.

Sorry folks, I had to edit out the prices, I know it's a fixer-upper from a swopmeet but it still counts.

To answer the original question, why not indeed? Please post pics and let us know how you get on :)

Whoops, sorry. I plan to start this asap, even though it's my main player and don't want to be without it for very long. I'll post pictures as soon as I can.
