The next round of linings bent and ready for laminationhttps://photos.smugmug.com/Han/i-c4p..._123844-XL.jpg

Not all the steps are pretty but even the ugly ones are important
Here we are laminating the back lining. You might be able to see the packing tape on the sides. The lining wont stick to the sides yet. When its dry( tomorrow) I'll take it out, shape the inside edges and glue it back in.

I may be biased but they are all beautiful to me. These pictures are the highlights of my day, the more the merrier!

One of the laminated linings that has come off the "mold" had some shaping and sanding done and is ready to be glued to the side. This is made of spanish cedar so its light and the lamination make it quite stiff.

The linings are in.
Laminated linings and laminated sides make such a stiff rim that the mold is no longer necessary. The remainder of construction will be mold free.

Here is a shot of the rim getting profiled for the last time on the motorized rotating hemi sanding disk.

Internal side structure nearly done. When the epoxy holding these CF struts cure then the side braces get carved and the sound port is cut in and lined and presto this assembly gets hung up while rosettes and back decor is done.

Looking schweeet! What wood are you using in the side braces? Looks a tad darker than the Spanish Cedar.

It’s all Spanish cedar. The side braces have yet to be shaped and sanded so you are looking at a cut surface rather than a sanded surface. Should all be the same color when sanded out. (Within the limits of wood variations)

Another gorgeous guitar in the works!! Love the shape of that West Coast and the woods are a great match. To me, it is just the "ideal" size...slightly larger than an OM, but considerably smaller than a dred. Add a bevel here and there and voilà you got a heck of a playable guitar for each and every occasion. Hanter, you're gonna love this one!!

Coming from a JK fan like yourself, I am quite glad I made the body and wood choices that have been selected for this build... John was there guiding every step of the way of course... I am definitely looking forward to using this guitar for all sorts of events, most of the time it will be for non-events!

Thanks Mike. The west coast is a nice guitar body if I do say so myself but it sounds so much more believable if someone else says it. :)
