Someone is going to get a great deal on this beautiful guitar. I was close to pulling the trigger, until Indid a bit of research and found out that this Breedlove’s equivalent of a dreadnaught. And, I’ve never tried out Adirondack.

You might have mixed up the Concert with the Concerto (easy to do). The Concerto is dreadnought sized; the Concert is an OM size. The Concertina is like a 12-fret 00 size, and the Companion is very small, like a Taylor GS Mini or thereabouts.

This is from wikipedia:
  • Concerto: A large-bodied guitar with a 16 inch lower bout, 14 frets to the body, and a 25.5 inch scale length, and a body depth of 4.00–5.00 inches. Introduced in 2017, replacing Dreadnought, Jumbo, and Auditorium shapes. A Concerto cutaway model was introduced in 2018.
  • Concert: A medium-bodied guitar with a 15 inch lower bout, 14 frets to the body, a 25.5 inch scale length, and a body depth of 3.75–4.50 inches. The Concert is Breedlove's most popular body shape, dating back to 1991.
  • Concertina: A small-bodied guitar with a 14.75 inch lower bout, 12 frets to the body, a 25 inch scale length, and a body depth of 3.25–4.00 inches. Introduced in 2018, replacing Parlor shape.
  • Companion: A travel/parlor guitar with a 13.5 inch lower bout, 14 frets to the body, a 23.5 inch scale length, and a body depth of 3.25–4.00 inches. Introduced in 2020.

So it’s essentially equal to Taylor’s GA size. I do some fingerpicking/fingerstyle as well as light to medium strumming. How does the tone compare to other tonewoods, specifically, redwoood, cedar, and koa?

Breedlove

This guitar has an incredible tone . Very articulate and bright for finger picking and yet when you strum or flat pick , it has excellent volume and bite. This is an excellent instrument and at this price point , a real winner!

Breedlove

Yes , this is a Concert, Breedloves original body type and size . Concerto’s are their replacement for their former Dreadnaught .

In between a GA and a GC size, I guess.

The Concerto is similar to the Taylor GA:
Breedlove Concerto:
- Body Length: 20.7″
- Body Width: 16″
- Body Depth: 5″
- Upper bout: 11.75"
- Waist: 9.4"
Taylor GA:
- Body Length: 20″
- Body Width: 16″
- Body Depth: 4.6″
- Upper bout: 11.6"
- Waist: 9.6"

The Concert is similar to the GC:
Breedlove Concert:
- Body Length: 19.9″
- Body Width: 15.4″
- Body Depth: 4.5″
- Upper bout: 11.3"
- Waist: 9"
Taylor GC:
- Body Length: 19.5″
- Body Width: 15″
- Body Depth: 4.4″
- Upper bout: 11"
- Waist 8.75"

Edit: the Concert and GA are kinda close but the Concert is smaller on every dimension. Basically the four above are listed in order of size haha.

If it helps, as an owner of four modern, Oregon made Breedloves (2017-2021 models made like this one) I'd characterize the tone created by Breedloves current voicing process ("sound optimization" hand voicing) as articulate with good note-for-note definition, a strong bass register, and excellent "in-tune-ness" (euphonics or lack of discordant tones or good intonation, I guess), for a sweeter tone rather than say a guitar with more brash, clashing harmonics. Comparable to the 1990s Taylor's I've owned, but with more to the bass.
